Surfing sessions

Calling all surfers!

Duke’s Day celebrates surf culture in its purest form, the way Duke Kahanamoku lived it--accessible, inclusive, joyful, and rooted in the spirit of Aloha. We are inviting surfers of every style and background to join our surfing sessions throughout the day. No competition. No pressure. Just community, connection, and clean waves.

Below are the sessions where you can paddle out, represent, and share the stoke
  • Disabled surfers - hosted by the Disabled Surfers Association. A welcoming, fully supportive lineup for adaptive surfers and anyone who rides the waves with assistive devices or support teams. Volunteers and water safety teams will be present to assist, cheer on, and ensure everyone has the chance to catch waves, connect, and experience the stoke in a way that honors every surfer’s unique style and ability.
  • Women surfers - a dedicated lineup for Waterwomen as an open, supportive space to surf, connect, and celebrate the sisterhood of the sea. Expect good vibes, shared waves, and plenty of encouragement.
  • Longboard - for the log riders, stylists, nose walkers, and classic-glide lovers. This session is all about flow, footwork, and honoring the traditional lines Duke himself helped inspire.
  • Shortboard - fast, punchy, performance-driven. Join fellow high-energy surfers for a fun, expressive session built around progression, creativity, and pure wave-riding excitement.
  • Stand Up Paddleboard - for SUP riders who love long glides, smooth turns, and ocean freedom. Whether you’re into cruising or carving, this session showcases the versatility and fun of stand-up paddling.
  • Free style - style, flow, and fun encouraged
